Can I just be honest with you guys and admit that I didn’t even know what Matcha was before the lovely people at Kiss Me Organics emailed me and asked if I would review their organic Matcha powder?
I mean, I knew that it was good for you. And I knew that it was green.
And… yep, that’s it.
Is that sad? Are you guys all matcha connoisseurs and I’m just lagging behind the times?
The thing is, I’m not a big tea drinker. I love all of the benefits of green tea, and I have tried to drink it and enjoy it in the past, but it’s just not my thing.
I’m a coffee girl.
So I get my green tea in other ways. I brew it up and make iced green tea with strawberry or raspberry, lemon, and something to sweeten it. I put it in smoothies.
But then I got the opportunity to sample this for you guys and I couldn’t turn it down. Since starting food blogging, there are very few opportunities I have turned down when it came to getting outside of my comfort zone and trying something new.
I mean, I made a lentil cake.
I thought this would be a great opportunity to try something the rest of the world already enjoyed. When you look at the list of benefits, you have no reason not to try it!
I’m a big fan of hiding the healthy stuff in the food I’m eating, as you may already know. It’s not like I’ve mentioned that eighteen times in the last 5 months. So I thought to myself, ” More energy? Beautiful skin? Higher metabolism? Sign. Me.Up. I must find a way to get all of that good stuff into me.”
Naturally, I made a dessert.
I did some research, and I found that a lot of people put green tea and white chocolate together. And in the past I have loved the combination of green tea and raspberry or strawberry. So I figured I would just throw it altogether using one of my favorite blondie recipes and see how it turned out.
I wanted to create a pretty green swirl to contrast the red berries and the white chocolate, but because I used whole wheat flour the blondies turned more dirty-blondie so the contrast isn’t as noticeable as I had hoped.
Either way, they’re packed with tons of good stuff and good-for-you stuff, they’re dense but moist, and they taste amazing.
The matcha powder gives the blondies a slight earthy flavour and it pairs incredibly well with the juicy berries and rich white chocolate.
