Six months of life with Maximus and I can’t possibly imagine a world without him in it.

The biggest thank you to Samantha of HOUND for gifting Maximus this beautiful new collar and leash from her fall collection. Red is definitely his colour.

I watch Maximus grow every day and still cannot believe how full of personality he is. I love all his little eccentricities, like the way he gives you side eye, the way he slyly nudges you with his nose or paw when he wants attention, the way he sleeps on my boyfriend’s side of the bed after he gets up (and lets me spoon him), the way he smiles when he’s chasing pigeons, the way he smiles when he’s being chased by another dog, the way he buries his head in your lap like an ostrich burying its head in the sand, and the way he tilts his head and barks if you ask him who’s a good boy.

But most of all, I love his loyalty. In just a few short months, he’s been there to listen to me when I needed to vent about something. He may not understand what I’m saying, but he listens anyway. It’s amazing how dogs pick up on emotions the same way humans do. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, it makes all the difference in the world to come home and have him enthusiastically greet me as I walk through the door.

It’s hard to believe Maximus was once a stray and was nearly euthanized because no one wanted him. With so many sweet souls like him in need of a home, it’s crazy how breeders and puppy mills are still in business. But I guess we have people like Paris Hilton to thank for that. The fact that she dropped $13K on the world’s smallest Pomeranian is fucking ridiculous. I mean, c’mon! It only cost my boyfriend and I $300 to bring Maximus home to us from Houston, Texas.
