Four easy DIY’s to make your home look festive

Pinterest is still that one super source of all things inspirational. From bedrooms you can only dream of living in one day to smoothies that always look better than the ones you make yourself. It might have to do with the fact that those smoothies on Pinterest usually come in jam jars, with colored paper straws, but still: the level of perfection is hard to beat.

Definitely as interesting are the DIY’s with end results that are actually achievable – like these we already did for HEMA. The ones demonstrated below are easy to put together in under ten minutes and will give your home a festive touch right in time for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. They’re pretty much fool proof, so let’s get crafty!

#1: Brass geometric ornaments
If you have a minimalistic style, shopping for Christmas ornaments can be quite the challenge: almost everything Christmassy is lush, glittery and sparkly. So why not make some modern and clean ornaments yourself? If you are too busy (or lazy) to search for the supplies, you can also order them on A pair & a spare’s online shop.
This beautiful DIY for geometric brass ornaments is from A pair & a spare.

#2 Gold photobooth backdrop
Do you love the idea of throwing a (big) New Years party and are you looking for an original way to decorate your home? A festive wall will quickly brighten up your home and creates the perfect party atmosphere. Plus, it’s the ideal backdrop for all your party pictures! There isn’t a better way to ring in the New Year than by surrounding yourself with sparkles.
Oh Happy Day tells you how to quickly create this sequin photo backdrop.

#3 Sparkly New Years sign
Get into the spirit with this gold ’2015′ sign. You wouldn’t say so when you see the end result, but these stunning numbers are made out of cardboard. So grab all the boxes you can find (now don’t tell us you don’t have an Asos box lying around somewhere..) and get your toolbox out. This garland is your answer to last-minute decorations.
The Ruffled Blog shows you how to create this stunning sign in a few simple steps.

#4 Candles in cups
How cute are these cups with fragranced candles inside? You do need some equipment for this one, but once you’ve gathered everything it is quite easy to make. You can even fill the cups with your favourite smell: would you go for roses, vanilla or lavender?
At Everything fab they explain exactly what you need to do to fill your home with these enchanting lights.
