Stitch Magazine Fall 2014

Happy Monday! I just wanted to show you a bag pattern of mine that appeared in the Fall 2014 issue of Stitch Magazine. I love Stitch because it combines all of the things that I love. Bags and small accessories, clothing, and even some quilty projects! I got my issue right before I left for Quilt Market, and I wanted to show my bag. I usually write short-er patterns for magazines, based on the space I’m assuming they have for each project. Each issue has different color palettes, and I wrote a pattern for the ‘Dark vs. Light’ palette. This is called the ‘Zip Flap Shoulder Bag’.

For this bag, I used fabrics from my Jungle Ave. line for Art Gallery Fabrics. The flap on the bag is what makes this bag special; it has a pieced zig-zag flap and a working zipper pocket in the flap itself. The flap is also oriented on a diagonal.

Here’s a photo of the bag that I took this past March before I sent the bag in to the magazine. Apparently we were still getting snow here in Chicago in March (big surprise).

This week, what I’m up to is I’m sending in the manuscript for my second book (can’t believe it’s done!!); and also, last week I wrote 2 new bag patterns, so my mission this week is to sew those bags up and get them out for testing. I’m gearing them toward confident beginners, although I think they’re interesting enough that others will want to sew them for a quick sewing time. So hopefully I’ll have something to show you soon!
