Big Black Coat and Cable Knit Jumper

You know I love a big coat, and nothing says ‘I’m on a badass secret mission’ like an oversized black number. This one, like all my coats seem to be this year, was a second hand purchase. It was completely ‘sold-on-sight’ for me because of its cool boxy shape. It’s very reminiscent of the oversized boyfriend coat from last year’s Isabel Marant x H&M collection. I’d always regretted not nabbing one for myself, and this coat, bought for only $15, was much welcome consolation.

I think the key to wearing all black (or all anything for that matter) is to work in contrasting textures. Otherwise people might think you’re dressed up as a ninja on your way to a samurai movie marathon. Today’s outfit isn’t so far away from a ninja suit though, really, so it really needed this deliciously textured cable knit jumper. Believe it or not it’s from Mix Apparel, a Coles supermarket clothing line. Mix Apparel have the most on point and carefully curated basics, and best of all, almost everything is under $30. I’m hooked.
