Jouer Know Their Bases

The way it works for me is that my foundation/base should be A) Lightweight B) Medium Coverage C) Natural D) Glowy E) Buildable F) Invisible G) AWESOME.. No Pressure! I have had very little luck with foundations and the closest I have come to “like” something for a long period of time was my Dior Nude BB Creme. I need options of course, so the quest for “Base B” led me to try Jouer and its two offerings in the tinted moisturiser category.

I have been playing around with both, the Luminizing Moisture Tint which I got first and the Matte Moisture Tint which came soon after. Spoiler : I LOVE both and have only worn these for nearly two months now! I have been reaching only for these and now that I have both I have the luxury to adjust the coverage or finish I need to suit my skin’s need for the day!

What Is it : Both the Luminizing Moisture tint and Matte moisture tint are tinted moisturisers with light coverage, comfortable wear and a glowy finish. I get slightly more coverage and very slightly more matte finish with the Matte version.

Matte Moisture tint has SPF 15, UVA and UVB filters and doses of Vitamin A,C and E which help fight against skin-ageing aggressors. The Luminizing Moisture Tint comes with a higher SPF of 20 and contains antioxidants in the form of Ginseng extracts. I have not taken pictures with flash so I am not too sure about the flash back effect but for day time I think these are amazing. I do wear my Clarins UV Plus sunscreen under these and that provides additional sun protection that I may need.

I wear the shades Chamomile in the Matte version and Bronzed in the Luminizing version. The texture of each is very light and it blends so seamlessly that I can make one shade lighter or darker work for me. I bought both the shades based on swatches online and have not had a problem.

How I Use It : The coverage is light which can be built upto medium but not more. With the matte version you can achieve a better coverage than what the Luminous version gives. I love a good glowy face so on good skin days I can get away with just using the Luminizing Moisture Tint. On other days I like mixing the two together in equal proportions and blending with my fingers. The texture is very smooth and it glides almost like a creamy moisturser and blends quickly. It doesn’t dry up immediately (both versions) so I have a good minute to blend everything properly. The finish is very skin like and natural which is the selling point of these for me!

I don’t wear makeup for long periods at a stretch but these do last me from morning 11 to evening 8. There is no fading just a bit of shine on the T zone. I tend to see some fading around my nose though which needs touch up if I am going out.

Ooops! Bare Face with redness around the nose and tiny after marks of spots on the forehead and under the chin. The face looks more yellow as the sun was out at first and later it got cloudy for by the time I took the other pictures.

Wearing the matte moisture tint, the day was very humid so I did not mix the two. It evens out my skin-tone and covers the redness pretty well. Also the veins around my mouth are disguised.

I am not wearing any concealer here, and the matte moisture tint has covered up all my redness and spots. Its a very skin like finish and very comfortable. The Matte version has the tendency to stick to dry patches if you haven’t moisturised your skin well. The Luminizing version does not have this problem.

I have not had any breakouts from these bases and they are actually really good on my skin. I love the fact that it comes in a tube with 50ml product which is almost double of what you get with other brands. The Dior bb creme tube contains only 30ml products and most high end foundations come in 30 ml bottles. The tube packaging also makes it convenient for travel and the screw cap ensure there is no spill happening!

I got both the Moisture Tint from CultBeauty.com They retail for £29 each.

Additional Makeup worn in this look is below. I have powdered the center of my face with the Chanel Les Beiges Powder in No. 20 with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. On the eyes MAC Teddy and MAC Coffee eye pencil my favorites for the eyes. Lips and Cheeks, RMS Lip2Cheek in Modest and Nars Laguna under the cheekbones and temples. Body Shop Clear Brow Gel on the lashes and brows.
