Poinsettia Mason Jar Topper with Spellbinders & Xyron

This poinsettia jar topper happened completely by accident. True story. I opened the package of Frame One Shapez Dies by Spellbinders and when I removed them they shifted in a way that looked like a poinsettia to me. A happy accident!

I cut out five shapes in red and one large one in green. Next, I used the Cuttlebug Holly Ribbons embossing folder to emboss all of the pieces, including a round piece from the Spellbinders Classic Large Scalloped Circles set. I’m using the Teresa Collins Cut’n’Boss

by Craftwell to cut with these dies and to emboss.

I filled a mason jar with Hershey’s Nuggets…and ate a few. LOL! The paper you’re seeing is from the Tim Holtz Distress Collection by Core’dinations. I love Core’dinations paper! To bring out the embossing you can sand the paper. It has a colored core so you reveal a color after sanding. Awesome.

I rolled the leaves onto the end of a paintbrush to help me give some volume to the leaves. I used the Xyron Mini X to help me adhere a strip of glitter ribbon to the top of the mason jar and the Xyron Mega Runner to attach to leaves of the poinsettia to the mason jar. To add volume to the flower, I used adhesive foam dots. I used a stamp from the Joy’s Life Oh Christmas Puns stamp set along with Versamark and Ranger Super Fine Black embossing powder to create a heat embossed tag.

The addition of this pretty poinsettia to a candy filled mason jar makes a lovely, inexpensive and thoughtful gift. A great idea for the upcoming holiday season!

I created this while participating on the Xyron Design Team.
