A few weeks ago, I posted this blog post about instagram and the internet and generally about making shit yourself. Whether that is photographs, words, quotes, inspirational sayings or beautiful pictures - just creating and posting stuff (on instagram) that is original. Stuff that YOU have made. Posting content that is yours, so that when people scroll through your feed they aren't confused as to whether it comes from you or directly from pinterest - they will just KNOW that it's straight from your own awesome self.
As I mentioned in that post, I believe that everyone is creative.
Everyone.
Yes, that includes you, Mrs Accountant.
After I posted that post, I was TOTALLY overwhelmed with ALL the amazing ORIGINAL, AWESOME, CREATIVE insta-pics that people posted and tagged me in! I've screen grabbed them below!
You guys - I cannot even tell you how happy it made my tiny little heart!!
SO. SO Happy!
It was so amazing for me to see so many of you so inspired - so amazing in fact, that very evening (back in South Africa) when I got into bed - I began plotting a way to inspire you even further and to unlock your own creativity. And (as with most of my ideas) began scribbling furiously on scraps of paper next to my bed. And so this instagram list evolved.
Before I go further I want to clarify that I don't want this to be like other instagram challenges {ie: picture of your house, your view, window, dark, hobby etc}, the OBJECT of the prompt each day is to provide you with a useful tool/camera app/technique/inspiration/creative idea - the picture you load at the end is the BY-product of the creative process. Got it?
My aim
My aim for this exercise is to give YOU practical tools, apps, techniques and prompts to BE creative. I want to EMPOWER YOU with the awesome feeling of what it feels like to #makeshityourself! (the official insta hashtag though is #myoriginalawesomeness - I wanted one that has no other posts in it!)
How it will work
I have 15 different creative prompts - each with a different tool/app/technique that I think will work well with that prompt.
Each day I will be posting a new prompt on my instagram account (@indieberries) with the technique/useful app/ tool.
You can play along by reading the prompt and creating an original piece of awesomeness for yourself
If you create something please tag me in it so that I can see your creative ideas! I'd also like to use the hashtag #myoriginalawesomeness
(every single other hashtag on the planet was taken)
You don't have to post every single prompt - this is not a "challenge" and it's not to see how many of the 15 you can do - it's for you to feel INSPIRED to create things for yourself! If the prompt on the day doesn't inspire you - don't sweat it - just wait for the next day and hopefully that one will!
These are the 15 different prompts below - but you will need to check into my insta-feed to get the explanation and the different apps/techniques each day. The reason I have chosen to do it this way rather than to just give you an entire list with all the explanations upfront, is that I want you to be mindful of the prompts. I want you to read each day and think creatively on that task for the entire day- rather than it becoming something that you just whizz through to tick them all off the list.
