Moroccan Adventures | To the Mountains

From bustling Marrakech we ventured out to the the Atlas Mountains for yet more R&R at the dreamy Capaldi.

The Capaldi really surprised us. On arrival, there are a couple of things that might catch the attention of a real stickler for details; the odd rusty parasol, a patch of grass here and there that’s yet to grow (the hotel is only a couple of years old), or a dodgy air con unit (a running theme in Morocco). But, and this is the important bit, it really didn’t matter at all. You quickly feel like you’re staying with friends, albeit extremely fortunate ones given the beautiful rooms and welcoming ex-pat hosts. Within hours we’d totally fallen for our enormous, comfortable room with its cloud-like bed, the inviting turquoise pools lined with olive trees and the sense of peace that falls over the entire place.

About 45 minutes drive from Marrakech, The Capaldi is home some of the best food we had in Morocco, stunning views of the mountains and slightly more comfortable temperatures than sweltering Marrakech. Being lazy toads and eager to read horizontally in the sun as much as possible, we took full advantage of our private pool suite over the course of our 48 hours at the hotel, leaving only for shady meals, visits to the library, and cold Gin Fizzs as the sun went down. We loved our sloth-like time here but if I ever go back, I’d probably go for a little longer and take advantage of the Capaldi’s mountain setting. Walks, visits to Berber villages and day trips to the nearby lake Tallerhoust are all on my to-do list next time we’re there. And yes, there will be a next time….

Days were spent in various states of undress in favourite swimwear with blouses, cotton dresses and shorts at hand to throw on for lunch.

Swimsuit | Agent Provocateur
Hat | H&M (similar here and here)
Bikini top | Varley
Lace Espadrilles | Dune

My favourite kind of slides….

Obsessed with Mango right now. They’ve really upped their game this season and it’s definitely one of the most affordable stores on the high street. Just be picky about the fabrics and details and be prepared to brave hot, tiny changing rooms…

Top | Mango
Shorts | Mango
Sandals | Birkenstock

Always a sucker for the off-the-shoulder thing too. Even better against beautiful, antique carved oak doors….

Dress | Zara (similar here)
Sandals | Ancient Greek

My favourite reading nook/fly trap.

A white bikini done just right by Varley. Oh and this pool? Just ours….

Tempted out of my standard denim cut-offs by the always brilliant Club Monaco.

Shorts | Club Monaco
