La Bonne Vie | France Photo Diary #2

Time for some more bittersweet reveling in what was….

After over two weeks in France, with work condensed into a very doable three hours a day, it was seriously difficult to come back to the real world. Saying that, there was a small part of me that by the end of the trip was kind of looking forward to being back in my beloved bed and catching up with all those I’d hibernated from for weeks. I will add, that feeling quickly disappeared when I immediately came down with some sort of throat-based lurgy upon grinding to a halt at Gatwick but the good intentions were there at least… My mind might have been prepared to come back to blighty, but my body clearly had other ideas.

Anyway, that’s what summer holiday’s are all about isn’t it. Running away from reality even if just for a few days. It’s the reality at each end of it that makes it all the sweeter.

Can’t recommend this book highly enough…. Devoured it in two days and couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards. One of those great reads that makes you feel things while also teaching you important truths.

Backless swimsuit | Warehouse
Bikini | J. Crew
Camera | Fujifilm X100
Clarins SPF 50 (use this religiously on my face)
Phyto Plage UV spray (protects coloured hair from going straw like in the sun)
Sunglasses | Vintage (similar here and here)

Mexican blouses, pasta and espadrilles; three of my holiday essentials.

Mexican blouse | Vintage (try Etsy and ASOS marketplace)
Stripe shorts | Oysho
Espadrilles | Manebi
Slides | Ancient Greek
Grey knit | Gap
Nightdress, worn as sun dress | Topshop
Necklaces from Lumo & Asos

The market-lined streets of Valbonne.

The spotty bikini got a couple of egative vibes when I posted it on insta but I love it. The combination of the retro, high-waist bottoms teamed with an itsy-bitsy triangle top balances the whole thing out and stops the bottoms looking dowdy. And it’s a nice way to ease yourself into bikini mode too…. These jeans might look familiar too; they’re the mom jeans from my Denim post last week.

Polka dot bikini | Asos
Shirt | Topshop
Jeans | Topshop ‘Mom’ jeans
Top | Topshop
Sandals | Birkenstock

Breakfast with my feet in the pool and plates of watermelon in the afternoon sun. The stuff proper holidays are made of.

Bikini | Beautiful Bottoms
Shorts | Vintage Levis from Urban Outfitters

Baked camembert and feline downtime…

Bandana scarf (worn as skirt) | Rose and Rose
Bandana | Vintage (similar here)

Top knots, tunics and all things backless and strapless….

White beach tunic | Topshop
Knitted tank | Wool & the Gang
White jeans | Acne (on sale now!)
Floral dress | Asos

For no good reason, I seem to always regress into a throwback hippy on holiday, and I was immediately hooked on the pompom trim of this beach tunic.

Till next year France…

White pompom kaftan | Club Monaco
