The Naked Dress

Remember the dress Carrie wore for her first proper date with Big? That tiny nude Calvin-esque slip deemed ‘the naked dress’ that lead to the pair missing dinner and heading straight to the nightcap… Well that was the first thought that came into my head when I saw this slinky, silky slip of a thing in Marina London’s SS15 collection at Somerset House over fashion week. The second was where do I sign my name down for a pre-order…

Always a sucker for spaghetti straps, but I think it was the colour that really got me. I was instantly envisioning it over tanned skin on warm, wine-fuelled Mediterranean nights next summer, which is always a good place to start when it comes to future purchases in my books. A knotted checked shirt and new favourite boots that have temporarily made me forget about the lack of Chloe Susannas in my wardrobe, and the naked dress felt less scary and nude, more grungy and lived-in, just how I like it.
