Out of the Woods

This may or may not have been named after a song on the new Taylor Swift album….

In an attempt to redeem myself, I’d add it also refers to a brief escape to the wooded English countryside last weekend. But mostly its down to 1989.

Anyway, back to those woods…. This is the kind of get-up I live in over wintery weekends far, far away from the bustle of London. Ripped jeans, heavy-duty boots and muted colours feel true to my style while being ready for dog walks, puddle-jumping and all kinds of wet weather wandering. Or just lying on the sofa for Friends re-runs if we’re being realistic…

I’ve had an on-off relationship with fedoras for a while now, but recently I’ve had renewed love for my faithful old friends, mainly because they’ve been serving as makeshift umbrellas on drizzly days. Plus, they definitely up the ante of the most basic outfit, working as the easiest trick in the book to elevate a lazy, nondescript weekend look to something vaguely more memorable. Just don’t copy my wonky hat styling… It’s definitely unintentional.
