Andalucian Nights
Dusk in Seville was my favourite time of the day….
Warm and balmy, everyone would start emerging from siestas around 7.30 for early evening drinks, late dinners and after dark strolls into the early hours. Being in Andalucia, we felt it was only right we took in some flamenco at some point and as it turns out, the world’s only flamenco museum was right behind our hotel and came with rave reviews. I’ve read a few books in the past that touched on the history of flamenco but for the most part, knew next to nothing about this traditional dance.
We were treated to a total spectacle that made me want to google flamenco and the history of it all afterwards (always the mark of something good for me). Dramatic, passionate, fiery and moody all at once, the dancers were true artists and the I think the Spanish guitarist might have had robotic fingers – I’ve never seen or heard anything like it. The venue is small, intimate and I was told by various sources that’s it’s one of the best, most authentic examples of true flamenco you can see in Seville. Ask your hotel for tickets and you’ll be stamping your feet and clicking your fingers on way to tapas afterwards….
