Record Collection
I'll admit it. I have the cheesiest taste in records. I keep all my ass kicking riot grrrl shit in my
Spotify which I listen to in the car and at the office. I pick records based on their pretty covers and the sappy romantic mood they will put me in when I put one on. Sorry, music snobs! Here are some of my favorites from my collection.
I definitely picked this Echoes of Paris album due to the lovely cover.
I was drawn to the cat and the actual music when I picked up Carole King's
Tapestry. This one was well listened to but still in great condition. I like the idea that something old can still be enjoyed.
Side 1
"I Feel the Earth Move" "So Far Away" "It's Too Late" "Home Again" "Beautiful" "Way Over Yonder" Side 2
"You've Got a Friend" "Where You Lead" "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" "Smackwater Jack" "Tapestry" "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman"
Soundtracks are a great addition to my collection.
One of my favorite movies is
Muriel's Wedding so obviously I need some ABBA.
I have the mister on French record alert. Claudine Longet is one of the best to look out for. She had a bit of
scandalous life as well. Too bad she can't tell her story due to legal reasons.
This record is super special to me. I inherited my grandmother's records collection as well as the record player that I use. She had the cutest habit of writing little notes on everything. It was important for her to remember that she heard it in 1969 in New Orleans. I wonder if she meant the album or if she saw him perform?
Some folks might find it strange that I listen to most of my music digitally, except for my record collection. I sort of cut out all the technology between the two! It might be a good idea to
sell all my CD's because they are definitely gathering dust somewhere.
