Jenny Packham Glamour for A Laid Back and Relaxed Devon Wedding

Well, Friday afternoon came round rather quickly this week didn’t it ladies and gents? This morning, we’ve shared details of the Jesus Peiro designer day/trunk show taking place at Miss Bush Bridal on 14 September, and as us how we like to do every Friday lunch time now, we’ve shared another ‘Covet Love’ feature - where we ask a member of our team to share details of the things they are coveting right now – it’s nice to take a little break from wedding world every now and then isn’t it? Getting right back to it this afternoon however, I’m keen to share the wedding of Tara and Sam with you. The couple’s wedding took place on 7th September last year at Shilstone in Modbury, Devon.

This is such a gorgeous day that embrace all that I love about weddings – love, laughter, children, family, and I really adore the way photographer Joseph Hall has so beautifully captured it all on camera.

“Sam and I have known each other since our college, but it took it wasn’t until we were at the same university that we really noticed each other. It’s then taken 10 years for Sam to pop the question! My parents live in the Modbury area and we were really keen to get married in Devon. When visiting Shilstone we fell in love with the beautiful setting, the rolling countryside, the amazing house and the great outside spaces. I was really keen for the décor and styling to be natural with a relaxed feel to fit in with the beautiful surroundings.”

“I wore a Jenny Packham dress. I loved the fact that it was unconventional and I just fell in love with the beads. It also fitted me perfectly and was really comfortable, ideal for dance shapes My veil was also by Jenny Packham, I loved the unconventional style of my veil, it was more like a hair accessory and it meant I could have a long flowing hairstyle to accentuate it.”

“My bridesmaids all chose their own dresses independently, the same colour, and they were gorgeous. It wasn’t until the wedding day that I saw them! The little flower girls dresses were from Zara.”

The couple hired florist Emma Vowels to provided these beautiful blooms.

“I designed all the stationery myself – place names were the favour – brown bags with sweets in – spray painted numbers for tables with glitter – the seating plans were on a barn door that I borrowed from the florists, ribbons and luggage labels – everything!”

“Our photographer was Joseph Halll – he was fab! We looked at lots online – we really liked his natural style of photography. His use of light is so pretty. He was responsive as well as laid back and captured the atmosphere of the day perfectly. I would definitely recommend and he was really nice to have around!”

“My dad was really keen to hire a fancy car so I let him get a couple of classic 30’s style cars, which carried myself and the bridesmaids to Shilstone. Our guests were transported in a bus from … Although a local company, amazingly the bus got stuck on one of the small bridges near the venue! There was then a bit of a rescue mission ferrying people back and forth, including help from our photographer!”

“At the very last minute, the sun came out and my mum suggested we move the chairs outside for an outdoor ceremony – which our guests happily helped with. My dad then walked me to the front from one of the hidden gardens. I walked down the aisle to the sound of Etta James singing ‘At Last’ – which we thought was appropriate as we’d been engaged for five years.”

“Our first dance was to Bob Marley’s ‘This Is Love’, which has been our song since our uni days. This was one of our most favourite parts of the whole day too.”

What a gorgeous day, the perfect Friday afternoon wedding for you to enjoy. My huge thanks to photographer Joseph Hall for so kindly sharing those images and thanks also to Tara and Sam.

Have a lovely afternoon and everyone everyone,

Love Annabel xx
