Mori Lee Lace and Pretty Paper Lanterns for A Colourful Wedding at Victoria Baths Manchester

Hello lovely Love My Dress readers. Are you following Love My Dress on Instagram? And did you get a chance to catch up on this Share The Honest Love post yesterday, and did you know that the brilliant Chez Bec are currently offering you a 30% saving on wedding jewellery?

This is the second lovely wedding we’ve shared today, the first was this gorgeous chic and colourful Sheffield city affair with a bride wearing a 3/4 sleeved Belle & Bunty gown. This afternoon’s wedding is that of GP Maeve and wine shop manager Nick who tied the knot on 14 June this year at St Cuthbert’s Church in Withington, Manchester. The couple went on to celebrate with a fabulously colourful and creative reception at Manchester’s Victoria Baths.

“As a reception venue, Victoria Baths is so beautiful. It was easy to style the venue with simple greens and blues. We wanted an easy, relaxed atmosphere in the city we have both grown up in. Victoria Baths was perfect for this.”

“Nick and I met when we were eleven years old at school, twelve years later we decided we rather liked each other and started going out. Nick proposed on my birthday morning with breakfast in bed. We were engaged for about 20 months before marrying.

We hired paper lanterns from Hipswing entertainment to decorate the venue with and we ordered yellow rubber ducks en masse from Amazon as favours.”

Maeve’s dress was a Mori Lee design that she purchased from Blush Bridal in Upper Mill.

“I wanted something elegant that would feel comfortable and suit my figure (Im gifted with a large bottom and a sizeable chest!) This dress felt as if it would suit Victoria Baths and I was able to dance with ease.”

“Our photographer was Karoline of Hearts on Fire Wedding Photography. We were both so happy with Karolina – she completely understood what we wanted from the day and approached it with such enthusiasm and tact. The photographs are amazing.”

“I wore a pair of earrings that belonged to my Nana and a bracelet from Astley Clark in Selfridges.”

“My Dad walked me down the aisle and during our ceremony, we had a poem written by my Uncle, as well as The Cure’s ‘Just Like Heaven’ – which makes both of us smile. It’s the perfect love song.”

“I loved walking out of the church at the end of the Mass, it was the first moment I noticed so many people that I loved were in the same place.”

Collins Florist supplied our flowers. These florists were very approachable, friendly and gave a good quote.”

Maeve’s Mum made the couple’s wedding cake…

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

“Surround yourself by calm and lovely people, don’t take it too seriously, you will have a fab day no matter what. The most important aspects are food, booze and dancing. If you don’t scrimp on one thing make sure its your photographer, they can help document your day so well to look back for many years to come.

Also, perhaps I may not have paid as much attention to the England V Italy match which kicked off at 11pm, even that was a great experience, watching football in my wedding dress!”

What a fabulously colourful day, just such a wonderful celebration of joy and love and good old fashioned fun. Huge thanks to Karolina from Hearts on Fire Wedding Photography for sharing these images. You can see more from Hearts on Fire Photography on Love My Dress here.
