Fashionable 4th

Things have been very patriotic here at Casa Ronchetti. The 4th of July is on Friday, so there’s that, but Hubsey is also a hardcore soccer fan and since the US team didn’t lose until yesterday (womp, womp), he’s been wearing a lot of our nation’s colors. I’m not quite so enthusiastic about the soccer part, but I am getting ready for some holiday BBQs this week and I want to be festive. I already have things to wear, but I felt like pretending and put together a couple of looks anyway.

t-shirt // shorts // shoes // earrings // necklace // watch // nail polish

This outfit makes me want to go have a beer on the deck while somebody grills hot dogs. I like that it hits all of the patriotic colors without being super literal. Stars and stripes are fine if that’s your jam, but I prefer to just wear seasonal colors instead of trying to find earrings that look like fireworks. As for the items here, I actually own some of them! I wore that Target t-shirt yesterday, my nails are currently that color, and I have a very similar pair of shoes in dark gray (of course). Oh! And now that I’m thinking about it, my watch looks eerily like that one. So I guess when I make up fantasy outfits I still pick stuff from my own closet? That’s probably weird.

Anyway, this one is more fanciful because sometimes you just feel like wearing a dress.

dress // sandals // purse // sunglasses // bracelet // nail polish

Full disclosure, I picked said dress because my imaginary BFF Kate Middleton wore one like it recently and I thought she looked super. (Someday when I find that elusive bag of money on the sidewalk, I’ll just buy what she buys because we’re about the same height and nothing she wears is ever too short.) But back to the outfit at hand. I don’t often make white the main color, yet it’s a chic way to have some “Go USA!” fun with the smaller pops of blue and red. And it’s SO adorably retro. I’m really glad vintage-chic is still having its day in the sun because it’s a very flattering trend on most people.

How do you like to dress for summer holidays? Do you go big and find spangled shorts or just do patriotic colors? What’s your favorite thing here? Me likey the white dress but let’s be real: I’d dribble my cheeseburger all over that thing.
