Fabulous Room Friday 08.01.14

I first saw this chic dining room a few weeks ago when it appeared on Nuevo Estilo’s website. Designed by Miguel Garcia de Valcarcel who has worked for accomplished Spanish designer, Luis Puerta, the space is light, airy, and elegant. It has appeared on a couple of other blogs, so I resisted posting it for weeks, but I just haven’t been able to get it out of my mind. The beauty of this room lies in its simplicity. Clearly, the apartment has amazing bones from the herringbone floors with the most perfect stain, an original 1930 fireplace, and stunning French doors leading onto a balcony.

The furniture is classic, yet modern in style– an Eero Saarinen Tulip Table and four leather and chrome director’s chairs take center stage. A French Bergere chair upholstered in a geometric print near the fireplace adds a touch of juxtaposition while a marble torso sculpture hung on the wall captures one’s eye.

{While I love lighting, I don’t think this room needed a chandelier. The same goes for the absence of curtains. The simplicity of the space is exactly what makes it special. Notice the mirrored paneling in the alcoves flanking the fireplace.}
