Fabulous Room Friday 10.31.14

Happy Halloween! Naturally, I am super excited about the November issue of House Beautiful since I am featured as the “Next Wave” designer in it. Thank you to everyone who has left sweet comments about the story on the blog as well as on social media! It’s wonderfully exciting and humbling to be featured, but it is especially so in such a fantastic issue and in my birthday month, no less! All of the interiors features in this issue are beautiful. Miles Redd, my sweet friend Nathan Turner, Susanna Salk, and Amanda Lindroth have stunning projects featured in the pages of House Beautiful’s November issue.

While I love them all and they are vastly different from one another, I am especially loving Miles Redd‘s project. No one does color quite like Miles. He uses it in such a bold, courageous way that I really admire. It really is all about the mix, particularly in this stunning living room which is anchored by a pale blue hand-painted wallpaper by Iksel called Eastern Eden. The traditional chinoiserie paper grounds the room and provides the necessary balance when juxtaposed against a flurry of vibrant jewel tones compliments of the luxurious Holland and Sherry fabrics– bright fuchsia on the pair of French Bergere chairs, regal purple on the custom tufted sofa, and fluorescent yellow leather on a chair from Ikea.

{The room is filled with striking modern art and a masterful mix of traditional and modern silhouettes and patterns that give it that distinct Miles Redd look.}

Do you think you could embrace bright colors in such a big way in your own home?

P.S. If you’re a Houston-based design lover, then you probably love Memorial Antiques and Interiors as much as I do. I love it so much in fact, that I will be joining them as a dealer with a small booth in November, just in time for their Holiday Market which takes place next Thursday, November 6th. Be sure to stop by for fab finds and great deals! Have a wonderful weekend!
