Polishmehappy's Vanity Desk

Hello ladybugs! I used to keep my cosmetics in Caboodle boxes for many years up until now. I have a really old desk that I used for something else, then I had the idea to use it for my cosmetics instead. I cleaned up my old desk and organized all my cosmetics in it. I am pleased with the results! It is not fancy at all but it is working for me and it suits my personality just fine. Most of the ladies I know don't keep their cosmetics on vanity tables. I think the very term "Vanity Desk" sends a sort of weird vibe on ladies because of the bad rap the word "vanity" has (think about all the popular sayings about vanity). The ladies I know keep their cosmetics in the bathroom, or in makeup bags, or in Caboodles like I used to do. The ladies I know don't display their cosmetics in plain view. With this in mind I thought "what are my girlfriends going to think about this"? Then I reminded myself that no one, and I mean NO ONE can please everyone ever, so sure a couple of people here and there might think it is "vain" of me to arrange and display my cosmetics in this manner but what is important is how I feel about my stuff, and not what other people think. And truth be told not a lot of people visit me. Once in a blue moon one of the girls from work come do their nails at my place, but other than that just my two closest friends come by regularly, and they well know I love nail polish and cosmetics. Of course they tease me when we go shopping and I stop at the cosmetics counter. They say "Kat you don't need another bottle of polish!", then I smile and say "You girls know that is MY THANG alright?! so move off to the shoe department (their thang!) and let me be!" So here I am showing you dear ladybugs my Vanity Desk. I am proud of how it turned out. All my stuff is organized and clean. With time I will add more things here and there. Now that I have a vanity desk I will have to practice and get used to doing my makeup at my desk instead of the bathroom. I need to learn to SIT DOWN while doing my makeup.
Here is the video I made for you ladies to see (I'm proud of my hard work!) Let me know what you think okay?

How do you ladies organize your cosmetics? How do you feel about Vanity Tables (or Desks)? I just love to see how other women around the globe organize their cherished cosmetics. It is so much fun for me, and I always learn some new way of decorating by watching how other ladies do it on YouTube :)
Here are a few quotes about vanity:
“Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.”
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
“Had I been in love, I could not have been more wretchedly blind. But vanity, not love, has been my folly.”
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
“Vanity is becoming a nuisance, I can see why women give it up, eventually. But I'm not ready for that yet.”
Margaret Atwood, Cat's Eye
“Nothing makes one so vain as being told that one is a sinner.”
Oscar Wilde
“Vanity, thy name is vampire.”
Jim Butcher, Proven Guilty
“Or, rather, let us be more simple and less vain.”
Jean-Jacques Rousseau
“I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.”
Bible Quotes Source: Ecclesiastes (ch. I, v. 14)
“Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.”
Bible Quotes Source: Ecclesiastes (ch. I, v. 2)
So while there is much to be said and quoted about Vanity, I'll enjoy my little vanity desk while I can! Maybe someday I'll have grandchildren and they'll make me take everything down and put all my stuff back in Caboodles again :)
As always, thank you for stopping by PMH and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead of you!!!!!
