I just discovered I am an introvert….

After thinking something is wrong with me for years and having my friends think the same I now realize I am an introvert and it’s ok. If you ever meet me you will realize I can start a conversation with just about anyone. Maybe it is from my years as a hair stylist and having to communicate with all sorts of people. However, I would have no problem being by myself with a stack of books and a box of wine :) . Even, in high school I was considered a goody 2 shoes. I only had a select few people I would hang out with and if they were unavailable I just wouldn’t go. I never had to have friends nor did I desire to be popular. I was always told I acted like a little old lady. Don’t get me wrong I went to clubs and partied but it was very short lived.

Once I was married and had children my unknown introversion became an even greater concern to my friends, because they knew my stress and always suggested I go out…but I didn’t want to. I felt safe in my cocoon with screaming kids and my husband. I think they felt like I truly could not go out..or I was not “allowed” but the truth is I really didn’t want to.

Then I discovered books. Yes, at around age 35 I began reading Twilight LOL!! I read the entire 5 book series in 2 weeks and I had to have more!!…then I grew up into the adult romance and I have never looked back. I read probably 100 books a year and I would have it no other way.

I found out about my introversion while researching my marketing consulting business. I began listening to Marie Forelo as she was interviewing Susan Cain about her book Quiet. Then, of course I had to find the book and listen to it. All I kept saying was THAT’S ME….THAT’S ME!!! LOL!

Well, it is me and I love the book because it is teaching me things about myself that I never knew. My little quirks now have an answer… I’m an introvert and I’m cool with that.
