I’ve said it before, but it really is true. One of my main favorite things to do in this city is to walk. Walk, walk and walk. I’ve always been a somewhat, ok very, serious person with a vivid inner life and this I believe is the reason I can just walk around for hours by myself, often even forgetting about time and place and the fact that I should probably get dinner at some point. But I need it, my brain needs it, I watch people, I listen to music and I daydream and reflect and analyze, all those things that I do all the time anyway but I just do it better when I’m on the go. It’s absolutely wonderful, especially this time of the year when you can stop by a hot chocolate spot to warm up and then keep on walking.
No matter if you live in New York or if you’re just here as a visitor, I would highly recommend doing this at some point. Walk around, this is how you best experience a city like this; because all these guide book attractions can never come close to describing the beautiful, turbulent hodge podge that is New York. So trust me on this, take a walk and dare to get lost.
