Sugar Spun Candy Corn Nails

Hi everyone!

Today I have for you my first Halloween themed manicure. Of course I had to do some candy corn nail art, because they are the epitome of Halloween. I admit I have never tried candy corn, because it is not available here, but they look really cute. I combined the candy corn theme with the sugar spun method, which I have been meaning to try for quite a while.

I started out with one coat of Essie - Licorice as my base. For some sparkles I applied one layer of INM - Northern Lights gold on top of the black. For the sugar spun I used the following polishes: OPI - Alpine Snow OPI - Need Sunglasses
Maybelline - Super Stay Couture Orange
To achieve the textured sugar spun effect I basically followed this tutorial by the Nailasaurus. I did not apply any top coat to keep the textured effect.

As you might have realized I messed up the colors on my nails. Candy corn usually is white at the top, orange in the middle and yellow at the base. Whooops. But I hope you get the idea! I do not mind the little misfortune with the colors, but still I am not overly happy with the result. Even though I waited what felt like forever for the nail polishes to become stringy, I got some big globs of polish on my nails. The effect simply is not what I had hoped for, but maybe I just need to find the right polishes for the sugar spun technique or practice some more.
What do you think of this manicure?
