Primary Colours

Covent Garden is one of my favourite places for photos in London, when in doubt go for a bit of colour! Most of the time I don't have a specific location in mind when I want to get outfit snaps, it's always nice to have a bit of spontaneity and discover a new corner of the capital. However when faced with the Saturday crowds, I always retreat to this colourful place that's tucked behind Monmouth Street. You may notice I'm in trainers again, this time sporting a pristine white pair. I wasn't aware of the Stan Smith craze until fairly recently and just thought they'd be a nice addition to my collection, however there's such an interesting background behind this minimal design. Hopefully I can keep them clean!

A little while ago I took part in the John Lewis Edit photoshoot for February alongside a few other bloggers. The theme was 'New Proportions', an idea I quite like but can find tricky to get right. I got to choose this Toast denim top to take home with me and I thought it was a great opportunity to try out something a little different. Surprisingly I don't have many 'tops' in my wardrobe, t-shirts and shirts yes, but blousy, structured things to wear with jeans? No. Normally I don't get too voluminous on the top half but I loved the simple structure (I'm a sucker for the Toast aesthetic) and was determined to make it work for me. As it was such a sunny day I brought the nude tights out, I'm sure I confused a lot of people with such a Spring-like look already but it's made me look forward to the days ahead. We took these photos at 4pm which is a good sign, it's on its way!

I can't keep up with all the new places opening in the area, Lucy convinced me to try a burger at Ape & Bird and I wasn't disappointed. It's a bit of a 'posh pub' so the prices are a little more than you would expect, but it's a nice calm atmosphere within the madness of Shaftesbury Avenue. I can't wait to try their version of the scotch egg next time, I'm sure it'll definitely beat the lunchtime version I used to have most days. Afterwards we stumbled across the perfect coffee shop made with bloggers in mind, by the way of Timberyard. If I want to have a bit of laptop time in the capital I've previously headed straight for Soho (Starbucks just doesn't cut it anymore) but luckily this place is spacious with plenty of plugs. It's funny what my priorities are these days, all I need is electricity, wifi and burgers!
