She Doesn't Even Go Here!

So it's been over ten years since Mean Girls (
hence the title) and compulsory education, so what the heck am I doing in Dulwich College? Fortunately I wasn't just lurking around, my Mum won some tickets for the Mid-Century Modern fair so I finally got a chance to explore the grounds that I'd always driven past so many times. The main building is pretty spectacular, so it's no surprise that some of the rooms were used for the Harry Potter films and it does a roaring trade in nuptials. The area itself is actually where I'd want my dream home to be when I'm a proper grown-up, with its rural appearance and close proximity to all sort of interesting places. Guess I'd better perfect my lottery strategy then!

So I may have got a tad enthusiastic when I saw that it would hit twenty degrees last Sunday. Although I like to slum about in layers, smocks and boots a lot of the time, when Summer hits I like to crank up the girly factor and revert to my beloved sundresses. When I started this blog over five years ago, I was obsessed with finding the perfect tops to wear with leggings and 50s style fit and flare dresses. Only one of those facts is still true and this Cath Kidston spot dress fits the bill perfectly. Usually I'd counteract the whimsical nature with a tougher shoe but thought I'd wear my Orla Kiely heels again for a full-on technicolour look. I'm so glad I chose the mustard after being tempted by the navy, they really enhance anything you wear. The fact that I was at a fair celebrating the best of Midcentury design meant I did look a bit of a keen bean in such a retro outfit, but what's the harm in trying to replicate some of the furniture you'd like to own one day. More about the bits I found later on!
I'm definitely going to be visiting Dulwich a little more this Spring, primarily to see the David Hockney exhibition but also to make the most of all the amazing parks and the fact that it's a perfect village in the middle of London. Also a special thanks to my Mum who took these photos for me and put up with my ways. We're not quite like Jazmine and her Mum yet but we're getting there!
