Photography | Complements.

My hub has this joke, whenever I say someone is a couple “Oh yea, they are a couple now.” He says “Oh, a couple-a what!”It’s just one of those (lame) jokes he makes over and over. (See also, “How long have you been married?” “Seven years. Feels like seven minutes……UNDER WATER.”) But “a couple-a what?!” is the first thing that came to mind when I saw this project.

Leta Sobierajski and Wade Jeffree created The Complements Project because they wanted to collaborate and explore their complementary relationship through photography. The photos are funny, gross, silly, the works. They drew inspiration from actual 80′s couple portrait photography. “In some cases we reference existing and often horrible photos of couples many of which are from the 80s. Other homages to great imagery of couples throughout history. We are partners and with our relationship, we complement each other’s personalities.”

I can’t lie, I prefer this type of couple portrait to those posed “engagement” photos of couples on the beach wearing white shirts and jeans. Life should be fun! Also, some of these are some fun christmas card ideas.

A couple-a what, indeed.
