Dresses in Winter

Piperlime asked me how I would make their dresses more winter-friendly and here’s what I came up with. (And since Piperlime doesn’t sell tights, you’ll have to imagine some of these outfits with them. :/) Today only: get 25% off with code BESTEVER.

Left: I like this Tinley Road stretch wool dress ($89) with a sleek collarless jacket (Piperlime Collection, $159). The boots are Kate Spade ($398).

Right: Tights or no tights with party dresses? (This one is Piperlime Collection, $69.) If you can get away with it—and don’t have to do a lot of walking outside—go with bare legs, a moto jacket (Piperlime Collection, $159) and closed toe pumps (French Connection, $60-$125).

Left: Chunky sweaters with midi-length skirts is a big trend now. You can try the same look with a 525 America turtleneck ($194) over a midi-length dress (Olive & Oak, $64). I like flat boots or Chelsea-style boots with this. These are by Lucky Brand for $129.

Right: Get more wear out of a maxi dress (Rory Beca, $264) by pairing it with a sweater (JOA, $79). Pointed toe oxfords look good with long hems (Matt Bernson, $135).

Left: I love this long-sleeved Tinley Road dress ($138) but the hemline is tricky for matching with a longer coat. This LA Made jacket ($279) is a better option and the shade of cognac on these Report Signature boots ($175) is perfect.

Right: This is a fun mix of textures. A faux leather dress (Tinley Road, $89), a knit sweater (Tinley Road, $98) and suede Steve Madden boots ($130).
