Designer Profile: Fly Peacock Clothing

This one is for the guys!

Fly Peacock Clothing is a guys apparel label, designed by local duo Gopal and Mukunda. Aiming to bring colour and individuality into guys wardrobes by offering bold and unique t-shirts, tanks and more recently shorts, this is definitely a label to check out on your next visit to TVM.

Tell us about how and when your label was created?

The original idea was formed late 2011, we launched at TVM in May 2013. Our label came about by putting these ideas together, we wanted something different, something that stands out.

What pieces are included within your range?

We have graphic t-shirts, singlets and recently added shorts, we have 100% cotton basics scoop neck tees and v necks, we have just added a cotton polyester blend v neck in 5 colours.

What is your creative background?

Gopal has always been into visual arts a little in the abstract persuasion, Mukunda has always had a hand for fine art and graphic design.

Where is the label designed and made?

All our designs are designed here in Australia, we are currently producing in Thailand until we can afford to make it here.

What inspires you?

Nature is our biggest inspiration, secondly the environment around us whether that be the nearby beach or the busy streets of a big city

Latest collection consists of?

Our latest drop sees imagery from holidays past and scenery from the environments visited.

What’s on your mood board?

The Beach, the mountains, canyons and rainforests, city skylines.

What’s your creative space like?

Usually surrounded by previous works.

What music do you listen to while designing/creating?

It’s not usually the same, depends what we’ve been doing before we came to create.

A day in the life of you consists of?

Food, coffee, social media, more food, physical activity, creating, food, social interaction, sleep.

Favourite TVM stall (besides yours of course)?

I don’t usually get much time to get around to the the other stalls so it’s usually just the ones around me.

What are we likely to find you wearing on market day? Any favourite labels?

Always wearing a Fly Peacock t-shirt or singlet, sometimes paired with our shorts.

What can we expect from the next collection/what are your plans for 2014 and beyond?

We are looking to use more Australian based imagery, so more GC iconic images and other Australian cities etc.

Why TVM?

We wanted to start local, and TVM is the best place to start for any Gold Coaster whether it’s fashion, art or other.

What do you love most about attending TVM?

It’s locals, showcasing locals, for the locals and those visiting the Gold Coast, always meeting different people.
