Review: Comvita Active Lifting Serum with Huni Xa Manuka Honey

If youve been reading my blog for a while youll already know that Im a bit of a skincare junkie. Im constantly on the lookout for products to help with my dry and very sensitive skin and I have developed a love for serums.Comvita Active Lifting Serum is designed for normal to dry skin. This serum claims to visibly tighten and firm skin, tackling the first signs of aging. Now I know I turn 30 at the end of this year, but, I dont really need any tightening or firming on my face just yet. Maybe if there was enough in the bottle to swim in I might have seen a more conclusive effect but alas, there isnt. The product comes in a plastic tube containing 30ml of serum for your £40. It has a handy dandy airless pump so the purity of the product can be maintained. The main ingredient of the serum is Huni Xa Manuka Honey. Manuka Honey is measured by the UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) where the higher the number, the higher the level of anti-bacterial content of the honey. The Huni Xa Manuka Honey contains these properties in addition to properties that help inhibit the degrading of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in the skin, which leads to the breakdown of collagen and aging in the skin. How much of this is BS is questionable but there have been numerous articles about the health benefits of having a daily dose of the honey so there may well be something in it.The serum is a watered down honey colour and it has a sticky, rather than silicone-y texture. The tube does say to apply it morning and evening but in all honesty I wouldnt use this under makeup. It leaves a kind of sticky residue on the skin as it sinks in, which obviously isnt ideal if you want to apply a bit of slap on top! However, leaving it overnight my skin feels soft and smooth in the morning without any sticky residue in sight. I cant comment on its anti-aging properties but I did feel like my skin felt tighter as it was absorbed. It has a spicy honey smell, the spice may come from either the macadamia oil or the myrrh but since Im rubbish at working out scents I couldnt possibly say for sure!Whilst this is a nice product and it didnt have any adverse effects on my skin, it also didnt do anything super amazing. I think it may be worthwhile for those that are already showing some signs of aging but sadly I cant say this really did anything for me. I may pass it on to my mum and see if she sees any results, would it be helpful if I report back? This was kindly sent to me for the purpose of this review. All opinions are my own and Im not being compensated for posting this
