Super Natural Detox Project: Cleansing Celery, Kale + Carrot Juice

Happy New Year everyone! Well, what can I say? It's the first day back and you know what I'm thinking? I L-O-V-E my job! As a health coach, my job is to make myself as happy, healthy and beautiful as possible... and then show YOU how to do the same! How cool is that? And, that's not all... since I'm a blogger, I get to be creative too! Writing, cooking, taking photographs, designing... seriously, what more could a girl ask for? Yup, I'm on a pretty big high right now.

I was amazed that so many of you joined me in The Sexy Sugar Free Vegan Project last year. It really cemented my decision to become a Health Coach and continue posting recipes and articles about my 'Super Natural' life. Over the next few weeks I'll be re-designing the blog a little, adding in a recipe search function, for example, and starting work on a new cookbook. All that has put me in a pretty fantastic mood... but, I also reckon it might have a little bit to do with my new juicer, and how many leafy greens I've been eating!

I recently watched the movie

Hungry For Change – have you seen it? If not, you should! Especially after the indulgence of the holidays, its a timely reminder that quitting sugar and processed food is perhaps the greatest thing you can ever do for your body. Yay for us! It also got me thinking about what it means to be clean. I mean, really clean. On a cellular level.

I don't know about you, but I like things to happen quickly. I don't mess around. And the fastest way to get your body back to equilibrium is to cleanse it – from the inside! I don't mean to say that 'Super Natural' health happens overnight. It is a way of life. But its not enough to simply stop putting toxins IN, you also have to get them OUT, right? You could simply wait, after all, the body is pretty good at cleansing itself. But I'm not that patient... So, over the next few days, I'll be posting about my little January Detox Project – my fast-track program to cleanse and nourish every single cell in your body.

Today, let's talk about juicing. And chlorophyll. Yup, it's the stuff plants use to convert light to energy and it's also incredibly detoxifying for the human body. You'll find it in all leafy green vegetables. If it's green, it contains chlorophyll. And, this January, it goes in your juicer! I've been throwing all sorts of things into my juicer over the past few days, but kale, parsley, and celery are my heroes for today, along with carrot, ginger and lemon for a bit of zing.

Cleansing Celery, Kale & Carrot Juice with Parsley & Ginger
4 stalks of celery, whole, with tops
5-6 stalks of kale
2 carrots
2 handfuls of parsley
½ chunk of ginger
½ lemon

method
Simply wash all of your ingredients and process through a juicer according to manufacturers instructions. Serve immediately and enjoy. Please, remember to choose organic if you want a true cleanse.

According to the juicing experts, it takes 15 minutes for the nutrients (that's pure vitamins and minerals!) in fresh juice to reach your bloodstream. Imagine what that is doing for your cells! By nourishing your cells with the vital nutrients they need, you are allowing them to LET GO of toxins, retained water and the excess energy they've been hanging onto... yes, I'm talking about FAT.

So far, I've lost 2.2kg during my January Detox Project – and I'm only 6 days in! I'm pretty excited by the results, but what I'm really waiting for is the glow. You know what I mean... when the health from inside shows on the outside. As in, gorgeous 'Super Natural' skin. I'll be back with more tips in a few days!
