Love Potions: 'Rose are Red' Valentine's Day Juice

Okay, so I admit I've let my blogging slip a little since January. I'm sorry guys! I've been so busy working on my other little project, Toffee magazine, and putting together The Sexy Sugar Free Vegan Project cookbook, that I've neglected to keep you updated on the January Detox. Well, I've now lost 4 kilograms since New Year's Eve through clean eating and hard training! I've gone at it Paleo style! My whole body shape has changed and I've got off-the-richter-scale energy levels! You can tell by all those exclamation marks, huh?

Now, with the arrival of Valentine's Day, and all these amazing gifts and naughty sugary treats going around, I thought it might be nice to take a moment to ask ourselves: when was the last time we showed our bodies some love on Valentine's Day? I mean, what would be the most romantic, gorgeous and loving thing you could possibly do for your body? Antioxidants. Yup! Loving, nourishing, ruby red nutrients. That's what!

So... I've concocted this incredibly luscious little Valentine's Day juice. It's sweet and spicy and has this kind of creaminess that I can't quite describe. But it's yum! And, of course, every cell in your body will go ga-ga for it! After all, pomegranate was the original 'forbidden fruit', you know.

Notes: you'll need a good, sturdy juicer AND a blender for this one!

'Roses and Red' Valentine's Day Juice
4 carrots
1 medium sweet potato
2 medium beetroots
2 cups pomegranate seeds
1 tsp ground cinnamon

method
Simply wash and peel the vegetables, then process through a juicer according to manufacturers instructions.

Place the pomegranate seeds in a blender. Pulse the seeds a few times to break them apart and release their juice. Don't blend them for a long period of time, or the seeds will break apart and create cloudy juice. Use a mesh strainer to strain the pomegranate liquid into a small jug. Use the back of a spoon to push against the pomegranate pulp and extract as much juice as possible.

Combine the pomegranate and vegetable juice, along with the cinnamon, and stir thoroughly. Serve immediately.
