MOTEL VINTAGE: DIY CHALLENGE

Here at Motel it’s no secret we like to be different from the rest, and our Motel Vintage collection is all about being unique. A collection of carefully picked one off items, each piece is lovingly reworked into the hottest one of a kind styles.

We thought we could raise our distinctive bar just that little bit more with a super cool task. We challenged some of the hottest bloggers out there to customise our light wash Motel Vintage ‘Levi Denim Jackets, and our jaws dropped when we saw some of the beautiful creations they came up with.

First up we had 22 year old fashion blogger Helena, who is behind the blog Heli Bells. She is also the owner behind Sassy World, a super cool vintage clothing website that has created a fabulously fun shopping experience online. Knowing her stuff when it comes to vintage fashion we had high hopes to see how she would transform our Vintage Jacket, and she certainly did not disappoint.

“I predominantly wear vintage as I love wearing things that no one else will really have and customising pieces makes it even more unique.”

Next up we have Nicole Alyse who has been keeping a personal style blog since she was 16. With lots of experience in the world of fashion she now owns her own vintage boutique, American Gypsy Vintage in New York.

“I’m a huge DIY person. Growing up always thrifting/vintage shopping, you develop a serious case of creativity. I’ve learned from a young age, if I like something, DIY.”

“I snatched this vintage Levis jacket from Motels Rocks vintage collection, and laid out a ton of rad patches to sort through. After picking which ones I wanted to use, I laid them out on the jacket and simply ironed over each one.. one at a time. So simple! If you’re looking for patches, a great place to check is eBay or ETSY. There’s some awesome vintage and handmade ones on there!”

Last but definitely not least we have the lovely Rachael Dobbins. She is the boho babe behind fashion blog Poses With Roses. Rachaels custom creation was inspired by the traditional matador jackets with a fun bohemian, Indian element thrown in to create this unique piece.
