Review: Billion Dollar Brows Best Sellers Kit (new at Kohls)

They say eyebrows are one of the most important features of our faces; and yet they are often the most neglected. This is certainly the case for me! I have very full eyebrows. I go to an eyebrow place every two to three months to have my browns shaped and threated and in between visits I do the the best I can with tweezers. That’s it. No eyebrow powders or pencils. I’ve actually never really felt the need to ‘do my eyebrows’. It seems like a lot of work to me.

However, I was sent an eyebrow kit by Billion Dollar Brows for free and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to experiment some more! Billion Dollar Brows (BDB) has put a new kit together of all of their best selling products and they’re selling it exclusively at Kohl’s: BDB’s Best Sellers Kit. This kit includes their top selling Universal Brow Pencil for fuller, thicker brows, Brow Duo Pencil to highlight and conceal, their Smudge Brush and their BDB Brow Gel to lock in the look. The BDB’s Best Sellers Kit is meant for all hair color and skin tones, so you’d think that I couldn’t go wrong… Read my full review below.

My thoughts:
So there’s a universal brow pencil, a smudge brush, a clear brow gel and a brow duo highlighter. I’ve tried and tested all of them and I’ve come to the conclusion that some of these work for me and some of these absolutel don’t! Let me break it down:

Universal Brow Pencil
This brow pencil is formulated to work with all skin tones and hair colors. It’s supposed to go on smooth and natural as well, which it really does. It’s a nice pencil, but unfortunately it does not go with my super dark hair. It’s an ashy color that I think will look good if you have dark blonde hair. For people with dark brown or almost black hair, like me, the color just doesn’t go. Luckily I have full eyebrows.
I do like the pencil itself though and that’s why I’ve been using it as an eye liner around my eyes. The looks pulls taupe on me, which makes it perfect to do a smokey eye, in combination with a shadow.

Clear Brow Gel
Now this product I’m in love with! I’ve used brow gels in the past (I’ve had samples), but for some reason I never go out and purchase these myself. Brow gels are great to ‘hold’ your brow in place, even if you don’t have any product in/on them. It makes them look nice and polished. Because I set my foundation with powder, I always end up with powdery eyebrows. This brow gels cleans them right up!

Brow Duo Highlighter
The brow duo pencil has a highlighter on one end and a concealer on the other end. The highlighter is supposed to go on your brow bone and the concealer is meant to cover blemishes. I like the idea (it’s very easy to use!), but sadly this pencil is way too creamy for me to use on my oily skin. At the end of the day it just doesn’t look good anymore…
This pencil is more suitable for people with dry to normal skin, I think. I have been using the concealer side in the inner corners of my eyes (on top of an eyeshadow base), which does stay!

Smudge Brush
Since I haven’t been using the Brow Duo Pencil as it’s intended, I looked for a different way to use this brush and I found it! It’s PERFECT to use with cream shadows, like Maybelline’s Color Tattoos or MAC’s Paint Pots. It blends these out quick and easy! I know a lot of people use their fingers for this, but I’m not a fan of using my fingers on my face. Happy to continue using this brush!
