Word on the Street

I dabbled in calligraphy (very basic) as a teenager. Lovingly applying ink to paper. And I easily take to the art of doodling (usually letters and flowers) when meetings tend to drag on, so my interest for typography is evident. It’s wonderfully creative, and can bring a space, page or packaging to life. What I like about this trend is that it’s accessible to all and fits in with any décor style. Handwritten fonts, vintage, chalkboard, flat type, is all the rage in 2014 as the trend continues to hold its own in design and interior design. Prints, 3D letters, rugs, furniture with type are easily available to add a touch of quirk. From the wall to the floor, typography is definitely having its moment.

Clever use of type in this book case.

Type on the wall, scatters and floor.

The writing’s on the wall.
