Banana Split

Oh how I do love a good design collaboration. Following in the well-heeled footsteps of 2014’s most talked about collabs – Kate Moss and Topshop, photographer David Bailey and Selfridges, Riccardo Tisci and Nike, and Orla Kiely and Clarks (yes, that happened), there is Marimekko and Banana Republic.

The limited-edition collection is all about ‘prints that pop’, which of course is what the Finnish textile company has become known for. The Banana Republic x Marimekko range consists of summer dresses, tailored separates and must-have accessories, and was launched locally at the Banana Republic in Cavendish Square, which is part of the impressive Stuttafords Emporium. There is so much to want, so best you make your way down ASAP to check it out.

The three fabric designers involved with the collection were Aino-Maija Metsola, Maija Louekari, and Marimekko’s legendary Maija Isola (clearly there’s something about the name ‘Maija’ that guarantees you’re destined to be a graphic design genius).

I know what’s on my wish list (that skirt, oh my!).
