♥ Adventures in Needle Felting ♥

So, I mentioned in my last post that I was going to try needle felting for the first time. I thought I'd report back with a little post on it (I did mean to do this post earlier in the week, but my boyfriend has recently got me into Minecraft & I may be slightly addicted to it now!). ♥ ♥ ♥ I actually decided to needle felt flowers onto a cardigan that I've had plans to embellish for ages now, which is an angora blend one. I'm not sure how well needle felting goes on materials that aren't actual wool, but plan to try out different materials in the future.

I suck at getting a good picture, but plan to include it in an outfit post in the very near future, so you can see it better. I am really pleased with the results, I don't think it's too bad for my first try. It was very easy though, you basically just stab bits of wool roving with a special needle & it felts them onto the fabric, pushing the wool through the fabric to attach it. You can sort of see in the pic above, the back of some of the flowers - they just look like fluffy bits of coloured wool on the reverse of the cardigan. ♥ ♥ ♥ There are lots of tutorials online, I plan to try 3d felting next, which seems more complicated, but hopefully won't be too bad! Not a bad way to jazz up old clothes though - easy & quite relaxing. Just be careful not to stab yourself with the needles (like I did...several times! Eeek!).
