‘Design And Dine’ Exhibition by HAY & Wrong for Hay // London Design Festival 2014. (Yellowtrace)

During London Design Festival 2014, HAY & WRONG FOR HAY launched a ridiculously good looking exhibition of their collections, alongside a unique dining experience. Their beautiful showroom, set within a Georgian house in St James’s, was transformed into a celebration of all that is beautiful – superb interiors, lovely product, super-styling, and an abundance of texture and COLOUR. Hoooray! I dare you to feel shitty when looking at these super-rich, colourful images. Exactly. Colour (and pom-poms) for World Peace, I say.

Reflecting the creativity and culture inherent in London, Wrong for Hay invited a selection of creative collaborators to interpret and react to the space and the pieces within it. Helsinki-based, guest-chef Antto Melasniemi created a food offering that weaves Nordic foraging with London urbanism. Guest-interior stylists Benjamin Kempton and Melina Keays used the space to explore unexpected ways of engaging with the HAY & Wrong for Hay collections. ‘We were delighted to be invited to guest-curate this show and have taken inspiration from the grandeur of the showroom’s space,’ say Kempton and Keays. Eclecticism combined with bold colours, textures and shapes, suggests new ways of using the pieces from the brand.

New Wrong for Hay products were presented in the space alongside furniture, lighting, textiles and accessories launched by HAY and Wrong for Hay in Milan earlier this year. A daytime café operated alongside the exhibition, serving coffee and tea, bakery items and light lunch.

A special evening restaurant, run by Melasniemi, held five supper ‘Design and Dine’ events incorporating a contemporary Finnish menu. In addition, the HAY Mini Market was unveiled at Selfridges in conjunction with the London Design Festival, which will run until the end of the year.
