10 Awesome Life Changes

Feeling stuck or in a rut?

1. Disconnect. Separate yourself from screen time (aka your phone, computer, iPad, etc.) every single day. While it’s probably not feasible in this day and age to go completely tech-free, it is important to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the people around you.

It’s incredible what a phone call (try it– you might even scare the person) or small gesture like a personal note means these days.

2. Read more substance. You are probably like me and read a ton of quotes and short articles online everyday which keep me pretty well informed (or at least hysterically laughing at my desk) but I’m talking about a more therapeutic version of reading — real books!

It could be an informational book, a memoir, or, better yet, a novel. The idea is to connect to one subject or text rather than a sea of clicking on links. (Still working on this one.)

3. Don’t dwell on the past. The past is in your past for a reason. It sounds corny but I believe people and things/events come in and out of your life for a reason. Find this reason and move on.

4. Call your family more. Yes, on the phone, not just a text.. Where would you be without those people? (David- I’m working on this!)

5. Forgive yourself more. Have you ever eaten two slices of cake and told yourself you’ll start a juice cleanse on Monday morning, only to realize you’re hungry for breakfast Monday morning? Stop making drastic promises! You’re setting yourself up for failure. Love yourself and treat your body right.

6. Don’t talk negatively about yourself. I do this every day without realizing. Remember though- you are what you say. Another work in progress..

7. Go outside more. I work with a company, pluggz, which are earthing “grounding” shoes. They have helped me realize how important it is to connect more with our earth. Try walking in grass or sand at the ocean. It’s quite peaceful and helps your body re-charge.

8. Free your life of clutter. We live in a society where we are always looking for the next best thing. Try going a month without shopping and donate items you don’t use.

9. Eat real foods. It’s this simple!

10. Do Yoga. Enough said ; )
