On Touchy Subjects, You Know, Politics

I normally hate talking about politics on here because it’s usually not relevant. However, a friend is a Getty photographer and he has been documenting all of the protests going on in Hong Kong, capturing some of the images on Instagram — you should definitely follow him — I’m writing about this now because I’ve noticed some of his photos going around Tumblr, some unattributed. Copyright issues aside, Hong Kong is an issue I’m actually pretty passionate about because of the similarities to Taiwan*. A few (sort of) random articles that I want to mention, that I think is worth reading:

*Despite the fact that my maternal side of the family is Chinese, I have dual citizenship (U.S. and Taiwan). I think it’s clear where my politics lie but I don’t think it’s appropriate or relevant to state it.
