Style: Moving out of a style rut

Please tell me I am not the only one that has slipped into a style comfort zone? Whilst writing and testing Friends, Food, Family I have added at least a stone to my weight – that’s over 14lbs for my American readers. (The book isn’t unhealthy but there have been mountains of food in the house for the past seven months, and I have been entertaining at least twice weekly.) I have rarely moved out of boyfriend jeans, (frankly I have rarely moved full stop) or easy dresses that still show off my legs, whilst hiding my increasingly mushy middle – I highly recommend the Whistles Adrianne, which I have in three colourways..

So I am tackling this in two ways: an aggressive exercise regime, as I have taken no exercise since last August, and my stylist friend Chloe Beeney (who has just set up a digital styling company, CeeStyling) and I have been tackling my moribund wardrobe and we’ll be running some of the new looks we have put together here on LLG.*

We spent Friday in Bermondsey and Saturday in Camden working out new outfits and photographing them, before collapsing in Wagamama at 9pm, after 12 hours on our feet.

ahhhh restorative pad thai. (Allowed on my regime, as I walked over 15000 steps on Saturday, according to Fitbit.)

We took advantage of the outing (to the end of my street), to snap a true out-of-my-comfort zone look – grey cotton jogging bottoms with a high heel, a nod to the activewear trend that has been floating around for a few seasons. I have to say I love the contrast between the loose cotton bottoms and the banana yellow quite aggressive heel. We kept it relaxed with a parka and a really great short sleeved loose knit from GAP.

Style Notes:
Trousers: Grey Summer Joggers by Baujken £59 (PR)
Shoes: Ochre Ratilda rainproof leather heels by Bally currently £210 in the sale (gift)
Sweater: Grey short sleeved knit by GAP £24.95 (gift)
Parka: ASOS Cocoon parka £70

Thank you to Chloe Beeney for styling help and for photography

*We’ll be using a mixture of pieces from my wardrobe, things I have been gifted and items we have called in from and then returned to PRs for these stories.
