Lettice gets Microchipped for free by DogsTrust!

Although Letty Spaghetti came to us fully inoculated, the one thing she did need to have was a microchip implanted. So I spoke to my friends at Dogs Trust, who do such admirable work not just in looking after, and re-homing dogs, but in encouraging responsible dog ownership.

They run a free microchipping service (Vital as it will soon be compulsory for dogs in England and Wales.) It’s available throughout the year at all their rehoming centres (by appointment) as well as at their free chipping roadshows and 1500 local veterinary practices across the country.

Handily for us, last Saturday’s roadshow was on Talacre in NW5, an open space a few blocks from my sister’s London flat. Dogs Trust were here in conjunction with Camden Council, who work with the brilliant Dog Hub trainers, whose community project arm both supports people experiencing problems because of lack of control and management of their dogs, and runs free dog training sessions in Camden’s parks. (More info here.)

Letty was very excited to meet the lovely Jackie from Dogs Trust, who ran the scanner over her to check that she wasn’t already chipped.

They were also offering a free nail trimming service, so Posetta Baddog and Letty had their paws groomed by Jackie.

Dog Hub had set up a training area to give free introductory classes, so Miss Letty got her first taste of obedience training at the hands of the wonderful Barbara (nominative determinism?)

We are going to book Letty in for gentle correctional treatment with Barbara at her sessions on Hampstead Heath – we thought she was excellent.

We then retired to Pizza East, down the hill in NW5, for a restorative pizza after all our hard work. (We weren’t the only ones expecting pizza, oh no.)
