My Wedding Fragrance: Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede

Our wedding day has come and gone, and it was perfect. I have so many beautiful memories of that day: the smell of the wet leaves on that cold rainy October day, the moment I finally saw Mr. Geeks before he became my husband, the overwhelming feeling of love and joy we felt that day.

This fragrance, which I wore for the first time on our wedding, brings back all these happy memories every time I wear it. Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede ($70 for 30 ml, $130 for 100 ml at Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom) is the new romantic fragrance from the brand. From the brand, Peony & Blush Suede is “the essence of charm. Peonies in voluptuous bloom, exquisitely fragile. Flirtatious with the juicy bite of red apple and the opulence of jasmine, rose and gillyflower. Mingling with the sensuality of soft, blush suede. Luxurious and seductive.”

To me, this is an exquisite bouquet of flowers. I don’t smell the top note of red apple at all. I’m not familiar with the scent of peonies, but I do smell roses another flower at the heart of this fragrance. So that must be the peony. After a couple of hours, Peony & Blush Suede develops into something warm, cozy and a little bit masculine as the suede note surfaces. Suede adds a leathery quality to the fragrance, which stops it from being another floral fragrance. It smells like skin, but prettier. Luuuurve.

Peony & Blush Suede captures the romantic feeling on a cool day in the fall or early spring, when the air is just cold enough to wear your favourite cozy sweater and leather boots. If you love floral fragrances, then you definitely must get a sniff. Those who are more inclined to warm, musky scents might still find something to love here.

To me, Peony & Blush Suede will always be the fragrance that will forever remind me of that rainy day in October, when I felt an outpouring of love all around. When I smiled and laughed so much that my cheeks hurt. When we caught ourselves admiring our new wedding bands on our ring fingers. When I walked back to the hotel at two in the morning, holding hands with my best friend.

Have you tried Peony & Blush Suede? What do you think of it? What fragrance did you wear (or are planning to wear) on your wedding day?

P.S. Happy to be back blogging regularly (I hope!). I’d love to know what’s new with you. What have you been up to?
