Barre to Brunch + Weekend Recap

Hi there. How was your weekend? Ours was a blast! We had a cold front so it was the first really cold weather we’ve had all fall, but we braved the cold temps and ended up having a great time. Here’s a little recap.

For starters, Isaac and I dressed up as Sam and Suzy from Moonrise Kingdom for a Halloween party on Friday night.

We were so excited about this couples costume and I think it turned out great. Some people didn’t know who we were, but that’s because they weren’t cool hadn’t seen the movie. Everyone who had seen it knew.

I did a little recipe testing and baked three batches of cookies. Soooo…. basically we ate cookies all weekend. It was fun, but I decided it was in our best interest to send the rest to school with Isaac today to share with his co-workers.

The perfect balance to all the baking = Pure Barre class. My studio is doing a holiday challenge so I’m on a mission to take 30 classes in 40 days (from Nov. 1 – Dec. 10). Right now I’m at three. Only 27 to go!!

After barre class on Saturday morning, Alyssa and I headed straight to a Virginia Bloggers brunch meet-up at the Blue Goat.

I’m no fashion blogger (obviously), but I thought it’d be fun to show you how I took my outfit from barre to brunch without having to change. To barre I wore Victoria’s Secret yoga leggings and a Lulu Power Y black tank. Most days I don’t get super sweaty in barre (like I would in a spin class or something more cardio focused) so I figured I’d be able to able to throw something on over my workout outfit. I went with this top from Free People (which I’m absolutely in love with, btw), these cream button knee high socks, my brown boots and a scarf. Easy peasy barre to brunch look.

Brunch was fun. It was all ladies and we were in the back room at Blue Goat. We spent the entire time chatting and I’m pretty sure everyone really enjoyed their meal. I had the Awesome Omelet, which allows you to pick anything from the menu to put into your omelet. I went with gruyere cheese, braised collards, onions and peppers. It also came with a side of potatoes. Yum.

Sunday involved a run with Alyssa. My first run in weeks. It was cold but the changing leaves are so pretty here right now — running is a great way to take it all in. I had told Alyssa I only wanted to do three miles since I hadn’t run in so long but we ended up running almost five. I’m sore today.

Afterward I spent some time lounging with these two… always a highlight of my weekend.

I did a little meal prep to prepare for the week ahead and then had a movie night with Alyssa. She brought her popcorn maker so we munched on that while watching Our Idiot Brother. It was cute — I liked the cast (Paul Rudd was really funny and I’ve always been a big Zooey Deschanel fan so it was cool to see that she was in it). Overall, it was a great way to end the weekend!

What were you up to this weekend? Anything fun?
