PIXI Glow Tonic

I’ve been trying to get hold of this notorious product for months but making my way to the Pixi shop off Carnaby Street just hasn’t been convenient until two weekends ago when I met with Fashionicide and we both marched towards it and swooped up two bottles each.

I have never tried Glow Tonic so buying more than one bottle may have been presumptuous on my part but the overall verdict from bloggers and beauty lovers alike overrides the gamble. It was also good timing with my current exfoliating toner running out.

Two things attracted me to Glow Tonic – it’s gentle enough to use every day, twice a day and the price. It’s only £16, which is very reasonable. Anything over £25 and I do begin to doubt if the investment is worth it.

Glow Tonic is an oil-free, alcohol-free (very important), gentle but astringent toner for normal to dry, dull and ageing skin. Judging by the reviews, it’s also suitable for sensitive skin. The toner’s popularity stems from Caroline Hirons’ strong recommendation, often out of stock and only obtainable at the shop until its availability online recently.

The key ingredients are aloe vera, ginseng and fructose, all three beneficial to the skin. How this toner works is it gently exfoliates and oxygenates the face, removes dead skin cells and helps to tone, firm and tighten the skin for a glowing, healthier looking complexion. It doesn’t dry out the skin and it smells wonderfully soothing.

I’ve been using Glow Tonic twice a day for over a week and in such a short space of time the results are remarkable. I am using less foundation and it is blending better. I can honestly say my skin has never looked this good (yes, this gives you a ‘glow’) and I do credit using the correct type of toners (exfoliating and hydrating). So glad I bought a second bottle!

A toner is the one product which runs out faster than the rest in my skincare (as I imagine is the same for everyone) so the cost is important when replenishing stock, for which Glow Tonic hits the nail on the head. It’s going to take a lot to turn my back on this one. Thank you, Caroline.

Pixi’s Glow Tonic is available from Pixi Beauty online at £16.
