Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Micellar Cleansing Fluid
Yesterday I posted about Bioderma’s Micellar Solution. Today I present an alternative choice. I’m not familiar with using anything from Eucerin but the brand has a micellar cleansing fluid of its own and it’s on a similar price point.
The Eucerin DermatoCLEAN Micellar Cleansing Fluid, which was kindly sent to me by Escentuals, provides 3-in-1 cleansing action for all skin types. It’s a fresh and tinging micellar water formula that perks up your skin. The product is fragrance-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free and ophthalmologically tested. Tick, tick, tick and tick! I’ve said this before about Bioderma and the same rule applies to Eucerin, I will not and don’t depend on it as a cleanser and only use it to remove make-up so the 3-in-1 action of cleansing, toning and moisturising is redundant. Yes, it makes your skin feel nice immediately after but it’s not going to replace the rest of your skincare routine in one go.
How Eucerin performs is another story. While it’s soothing to sweep a soaked cotton pad over the skin, I found it took several cotton pads to remove just mascara and eyeliner alone. I didn’t have to forcefully use it however, a gentle sweep action is what I do (as is the case with Bioderma) but unlike its rival, which acts quicker and faster, Eucerin is a slow coach. Slightly alarming is the instruction which says, “repeat until the pads come away clear.” At this rate, I will be going through my supply of cotton pads every week.
As I mentioned above, it does make your skin tingle immediately after use which might be of a concern if you have sensitive eyes, in which case I would avoid using this on and around the eyes. How it’s been ophthalmologically tested is a contradiction if indeed this solution does cause mild irritation.
The DermatoCLEAN Micellar Cleansing Fluid is not a terrible product, it removes make-up but it uses more fluid and pads in doing so thus more waste. I’d like to have taken off my make-up in 3-4 pads (not including heavy eye make-up), not more than that amount.
When it comes to costs, Eucerin works out to be more pricey at £9 for 200ml. Bioderma is £9.99 for 250ml. At the end of the day it’s down to personal preference.
