sneak peek: kevyn aucoin beauty, holiday 2013

The essential Kevyn Aucoin look is classic. The makeup is non-fussy, beautiful, and sophisticated. I got to take a quick look at the brand’s Holiday 2013 collection and there are definitely a few things you should pick up for yourself this season!

::Pictured above::
  • The Essential Eye Shadow Set (5 Pan) Palette #1: a neutral palette with the brand’s silky powder formula. It’s not the holiday palettes I’m used to with the golds, and reds, and sparkle – rather a more demure take on holiday eye makeup.
  • The Celestial Powder Candlelight: a sheer, opalescent, champagne-colored powder that works as a highlight over foundation or bare skin. It’s supremely beautiful in the pan and the brand recently launched a liquid version, the Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting, which is perfect for women with dark skin (powders tend to contain talc which we all know turns some level of grey on us!). As I swatched the liquid version I couldn’t help but notice the radiance – it’s definitely something I’d wear during the winter when skin can look a little dull. It’s formulated with Raspberry Stem Cell Extract and Bearberry Complex that act as potent age defense agents, which protect skin from damage due to oxidation. I need to pick this up!
  • Matte Lip Color in Timeless: a vibrant orange red hue, the matte lipstick is a long-wear lip color that, rather than be a dry matte, is somewhat creamy.
  • Precision Brow Pencil in Brunette: the same formula created by the legendary Kevyn Aucoin, the Precision Brown Pencil is a favorite of makeup artists and consumers alike because of its gel formula and long lasting color.

::Not Pictured::
A new mascara (The Essential) which has a slightly curved wand that allows you to apply evenly for a glamorous look; two new primers – Normal/ Dry and Oily skin – which act more like a face serum than your run of the mill primer; two new false lashes that offer you an everyday look with graduated short and long hairs (The Ingenue) or full blown glam with denser hairs towards the outer corners (The Starlet). The products are available now at Barneys, Bergdorf, Nordstrom, and Space NK.
