Sparkles & Glue

Today I am excited to be featuring my first blogger for the Saturday Guest post!
Let me introduce you to the darling Jessica from Sparkles & Glue!

What made you start blogging? I started blogging back in 2012. I was busting at the seams with ideas, recipes, and stories to share and so was my friend Missy. So, we sat down at her kitchen table and worked on a name for our blog and after much debate we agreed on Sparkles & Glue. We Finally had a place to share everything, and we did just that. Missy went back to school to get her Masters degree and I took over most of the blogging. In April 2014, I decide to give Sparkles & Glue a brand new look and I have been in blogging heaven since then! What is the coolest part about being an ICU nurse? I admit I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie when it comes to my job. I love the rush you get when someone is rolling through the doors of the ICU and they need IV lines, medications, interventions, breathing tubes, and ME! The choices that are made by an ICU nurse can be life and death. ICU nurses also have a lot of autonomy. The physicians build a relationship with you {and I don't mean Grey's Anatomy Style relationships} and start to trust your decisions. It’s an awesome feeling to be such a big part in someone’s recovery. It's a huge bonus when you run into your patient in the grocery story or gas station and they are walking, talking, driving, and living and the last time you seen them they couldn't breathe for themselves. It's an awesome job and I thank God for guiding my hands everyday. Here is a post about ICU nurses I did on my blog! What are you looking forward to about fall? Honestly, fall always makes me a little sad since it means summer is over and summer is by far my favorite season BUT I do look forward to walking down the sidewalk in a fun sweater and smelling the spices of fall wafting from the windows of every coffee shop and bakery in the area. The smells of fall do make me smile (and hungry!) It sort of feels like everyone panics when fall starts to arrive and they hurry to pack in as many activities as possible before winter creeps up on us and I really enjoy all the fall events: pumpkin patches, hayrides, carving jack-o-lanterns, and baking with friends. What is the hardest DIY project you have ever done? My Prince Charming and I had carpet that was well let’s say icky. I hated even walking on it because, it just always felt gross and dirty to me so we tore it out and laid hardwood floor~ that was the easy part! The hard part was installing the stairs, sanding, staining, and sealing them! I just finished them and plan on sharing the stair project along with some other updates we have done in our home. The steps took forever and made our house un-usable for the weekend~ hotel here we come! Too bad I was to exhausted to enjoy it! Check back soon to see the before and after’s! What are two of your favorite posts you've written lately? I’m currently in love with my crossfit classes! So, sharing how I got started and tips to survive, as a new-be has been a lot of fun! I plan to continue sharing my progress as I go! I’m even going to post my before and after pictures! I still can’t believe I put a bikini on for my before pictures. After a month of classes I’m already down 8 lbs! Gluten free is another topic I’m pretty passionate about. I mean you either dwell on the idea that you can’t eat soft, chewy, fresh, yeasty bread or you embrace the gluten free life style suck it up and enjoy everything else! I have embraced my gluten free life style and I love sharing my recipes with my readers! Gluten Free Breakfast Pizza, Mediterranean Tomato Salad, and my favorite Gluten Free Chicken and Waffles on a stick!
