Style Me Friday Is Back with a Little Inspiration from Olivia Palermo! (The Fashionista Next Door)

I can’t even tell you how many emails, tweets, Facebook messages I received asking what happened to Style Me Friday? I don’t know what to say except it was stressing me out…and that honestly could have just been a symptom of my overall exhaustion with the blog, but it just stopped being fun. I was totally over-thinking it…trying to find the perfect inspiration…something that you guys would all be able to participate in…something that everyone would like…I’d go through the whole “well, everyone doesn’t like crop tops,” and “everyone won’t have leather joggers,” and “that trend isn’t for everyone.” Silly, right? I mean, the the whole point is to recreate outfits that inspire ME, and if you’re inspired to join the fun…great! Reader participation was a big part of why I started SMF, but it wasn’t supposed to stress me out! Lol.

So, in my quest to get back to the basics, and back to all the things I loved about blogging in the first place, I’m bringing Style Me Friday back to where it all started. Okay, so enough about that and on to the look! I have had this Old Navy jean skirt in my drawer…with the tags on… for like 2 years. I think I bought it for something like $5 on clearance. I don’t know why I never wore it, but when I saw Olivia Palermo’s denim on denim skirt outfit at NYFW, I knew I had to recreate it. She has a knack for taking the simplest pieces and making them amazing, doesn’t she?

Now, of course I had to add my own flavor to the look with these shooooooes! I shared on Instagram that I had these shoes on my wish list for like a full year before I finally bought them on clearance. It pays to wait sometimes. (but, man oh man, I would have been so mad if I’d missed out on them!)
