IPSY Glam Bag for August Review!

Purchased by me

The theme for the IPSY Glam Bag for August is “Beauty Schooled.” Honestly, I’m not sure what these products have to do with going back to school, but whatever. If you’re not familiar, Ipsy is a monthly subscription bag. For only $10 a month you get a great mix of full and sample size beauty products from great brands and a cute makeup bag too! I particularly like the Ipsy Glam Bag because for the most part, they keep your coloring and preferences in mind. If you ever decide to join, please use my link here.

This month I received 1 full-sized product and 4 sample sizes. This is disappointing as in the past there have been more full-sized products and less samples in the mix. Here is what was in my bag for August:

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara ($5.50 sample size) - This is a new mascara from Urban Decay that I’ve been dying to try. This promises to give you “Bigger, Blacker, Badder” lashes and I’ve heard great things about it so this is my favorite thing in the bag.

Free Your Mane Reviving Spray ($5? full-size $14.95) - this is a liquid dry shampoo that refreshes your hair style and provides a base for other styling products. It has a nice scent and doesn’t leave hair wet even though it’s a liquid–it dries almost immediately upon contact. Free Your Mane is formulated paraben-free for your health and powered by our exclusive blend of rejuvenating Baobab Seed Oil from Africa, ultra-moisturizing Argan Oil from Morocco, anti-oxidant rich Pomegranate Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil. I quite like this and with regular use it is supposed to extend color life and improve chemical treatment results.

Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Conditioner ($5.50 – full size) - I have a gazillioin lip balms so it’s not that exciting. That said, this does smell really good and it has UV protection and is rich in calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper and anti-oxidants. It is touted as an anti-aging lip conditioner so we will see.

Lord & Berry Black Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil ($7 sample size) - this is so small it’s a NUB. A black eyeliner that is as short as a nub is not good.

Dr. Brant pores no more primer ($10? – sample size) - I have used this in the past when my skin was more oily. It is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores by diffusing light, blur imperfections & lines, erase shine & mattify skin, absorb oil, reduce shine and help regulate sebum production and act as a shield to prevent makeup from clogging pores. When I was using this it did all it was supposed to, however, my skin has changed and this is too drying for me now. Still, I appreciate getting the chance to try it again–the full-size is $45.

Makeup Bag – the makeup bag this month is a cute orange and white polka dot. It’s a plastic roll-type which I like because you can really get a lot into this style of bag. No yucky plastic smell either!

Bottom Line: the August IPSY bag was a bit disappointing in it’s lack of full-sized items. However, I am really glad to be able to try the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara and the Free Your Mane Reviving Spray. For me, trying new products is a big part of the fun with the IPSY bag.
