Marc Jacobs Beauty Dreamer Eye Shadow Palette: Review, Pics, Swatches

Marc Jacobs Dreamer

Purchased by me

Marc Jacobs Beauty recently added a five more choices to his Style Eye-Con NO.7 eye shadow palettes. I purchased #212 The Dreamer, a mix of warm neutrals–I’m so predictable

The shades include:

  • Baked crème matte
  • Golden tan shimmer
  • French vanilla satin
  • Deep espresso matte
  • Warm peach matte
  • Fiery copper shimmer
  • Warm gold shimmer

The shades are are a good mix of matter, satin shimmery finishes. No worries beauties, the shimmer shades are sophisticated. Some may say these shades are not all that unique and rightly so. However, I adore the creamy, sumptuous texture, finish and effortless application. The texture would please even Goldilocks; buttery smooth, not too hard so you have to dig it out of the pan, and not too powdery so it kicks up dust. The pigmentation is incredible and when the shimmer shades are applied with a damp brush, they are intensified with a metallic finish.

The packaging is sleek and modern. Ultra-slim, the palette can fit easily into a makeup or bag. The palette comes with a nylon outer sleeve–nice touch! I love the slip cover over the shadows–no dirt or grime to contaminate the shadows. There is also a full sized mirror and a clever silver push button mechanism. I should mention the palette does not come with a brush. Overall, the packaging is elegant with a minimalist feel.

I purchased this palette directly from the Marc Jacobs website, because of the great gift with purchase promotion they were having at the time. I know, I KNOW, I’m sucker for anything “free.” I’m the girl that will spend an extra $10 to get free shipping probably worth $2.98! It’s an affliction I’m working on, m’kay? Actually I was able to “stack” two promos together. One was a free mini Blacquer gel eye crayon with any purchase, and the other GWP was a Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Brown Out and a mini Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl in #302, Kissability.

Kissability is a sheer, shimmering lilac pink. It has a slight mint flavor and applies smoothly. The price for full-size is $28, and honestly for that price, I personally prefer a gloss with more color–this is very sheer. It does feel good on the lips and isn’t goopy or sticky so if you like sheer shades, this may be just right for you.

The highlighter gel crayons are awesome! Blacquer is a matte deep black and Brown Out is a beautiful bronze with slight silver shimmer. These crayons are extremely soft and creamy, are very easy to work with and smudge out easily for a smoky eye, they also last all day. I love ‘em! I’m really glad I got a chance to try these in a GWP before purchasing, however now I want all 15 shades!

Bottom Line: Marc Jacobs The Dreamer is a winner! The texture is amazing, the quality and packaging excellent. The combination of matte and shimmer shades make for a versatile palette. The Style Eye-Con Palettes are on the pricey side, however they are comparable in price and quality to other high-end brands like Dior and Chanel. If you want to experience Marc Jacobs Beauty, it’s splurge-worthy!
